In June, I spent the last two weeks in Sydney with my best bud who single handedly planned the whole trip which I’m really grateful for, because seriously I suck at planning anything. We were really lucky because while we were away, Singapore was experiencing the worst haze situation during that two weeks when we were away! We were psychic, nah! the dates were planned almost 6 months back!

Many first for me, first time leaving asia, first time taking such a long flight (a 8 hour full flight with irritating idiots sitting behind me) and the first time staying in a stranger’s home, which I was pretty skeptical about, prolly should stop watching too much drama.

Sydney in general is really pleasant place, which is clean, beautiful scenery, fresh air and most importantly not crowded! Take public transport for example, even though its rush hour, it is still possible to get a seat on the trains and buses! Love the trains there because there’s 3 decks and you can change the direction of your seats! Singapore should really adopt this concept because I’ve never seen tpy so crowded in the 11 years I’ve studied there.

The apartment for our stay,it was a few minutes walk to Redfern train station, which was really near to the city! 5 stops only!  The only downside to the apartment was that the walls were false walls, so we can’t really talk loudly without the host eavesdropping. Also the host was rather racist in someway or another but I’ll let that slide.

The legendary san churros, imo, not fantastic but good enough

Tarot card reading at Bondi market, only open on weekends, well I’m not in to vintage items so all the markets didn’t fancy me, and secondly its because of the price! I never knew you could sell second hand stuff above a 100 dollars!

Pau and I with the opera house, I don’t know if it was only me but I became tanner even though I was covered from head to toe, strong sun rays?

Busker on the tallest unicycle I’ve seen ever, felt that the buskers here really engage with the audience which made your contribution worth it

A quaint little shop we came across at the rocks which serve really nice afternoon tea sets, we had the scones set which was pretty worth it, 4 scones, with 4 different kind of spreads and a pot of tea. The setting was really nice and I just love sitting along the road watching the day go by, something that we can’t do in Singapore! Unless you count sitting at the coffee shop gobbling your food while the cars pollute the air!

Chinatown, prolly the most familiar place, with food we are familiar with think chinese tze char and mandarin speaking shop owners

Went on a free tour as well, I suggest going on free tours if you just want to know a little background knowledge behind the history of the country you’re visiting, reason being, you’re not gonna fully digest or pay attention what the guide is saying and you are gonna waste your money paying exorbitant prices to agencies. All you have to do is tip them whatever amount you think they deserve, its definitely much cheaper than those at travel agencies.

the reason why we won’t see such things here is because people will steal the chess pieces after a fews days!  I would not be surprise because people have stole the Moove media cows that were scattered around the island.ImageImage

went to the zoo on one of the days, honestly, felt there was nothing special, only special thing was we had to take a boat ride to and fro, and most of the animals weren’t at their enclosures or sleeping! Maybe because it was cold that why they were ‘hibernating’?

Sat here to enjoy the bird show, the only reason why was probably because of the scenery! Image

Manly beach, the day I had too much ice cream that I puked everything I had! I had ice cream for every meal even breakfast! :O Manly is also another place to visit, if you thought the city was laid back, wait till you arrive in manly, it even calmer, time seems to pass slower there as well! you practically can cover the place in 1 hour,  but it feel like 3 hours! The cons of the sun setting early it was already dark by 5pm

Got up early the next morning to visited Kirribilli market, but it was raining we couldn’t see much and left early! Wanted to see what food they were gonna sell reason being i’m not interested in second hand goods!

After that we took a train down to Wollongong to visit Wudi and Wushu, it is amazing even after our exchange 3 years ago that we were still kept in contact, and meeting in a foreign country to all of us. We had lunch at this vietnamese pho restaurant. I swear that it is the best pho I’ve tasted! Even better than the ones I had in Vietnam, even the ones here taste better. I feel that it is the quality of the ingredients used that makes it so good!

took a bus down to the wharf, before we left we saw a rainbow! Being SK Sgreans, we started screaming and shouting and taking photos, but according to wushu its a pretty common sight there! oh well, who ask singapore no rainbow???

Total let down, woke up at 5am to get ready only to see mist! I was actually really excited to see how magnificent the three sisters was gonna be, a friend sent me some photos a while back of it and I was really amazed. Sigh maybe next time? To add on to the disappointment, it rained the whole day and it was super cold when the wind blows into your face -_-

Then it was home bound!

Had an amazing time in Sydney though the only thing I brought back was 25kg of timtam and chocolates because clothes there are either too expensive or not my type. This was the best “before school starts” holiday I’ve ever had!
